About Us
Angels of Refuge (AOR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2005. Our mission is to provide mentoring for at-risk youth, drug and sex awareness, teen pregnancy prevention and intervention, life skills, and adult preparation services for ages 12–22. It is our goal to intervene in the lives of overlooked and underserved populations of at-risk youth and refugees. AOR is dedicated to advocating for youth and reaching our goals by matching qualified adult mentors with mentees, as well as providing transitional life skills programs and services within the community. We are a unique organization with an amazing staff of licensed life coaches.
We desire to bridge gaps between youth, their family unit, and the school community. Our programs and services are designed to meet fundamental academic needs, life skills and evidence-based programs that will propel participants onto a pathway of hope, and destined success. Research suggests that when students’ basic survival needs are met, they are more inclined to perform better academically, socially, and physically. Parents are also encouraged to participate in the Triple P evidence-based parent classes offered to strengthen the entire family.
AOR is a total-needs organization, to achieve our mission, we have syndicated partnerships with other community groups such as Star of Hope, Catholic Charities, Alief ISD, Children at Risk, Young Mothers Don’t Quit, and many more. We believe that partnerships for the common good will make our community healthier.
